Updated September 26, 2026. What men over 40 are actually talking about — each topic is a full article, not a blurb.
Not medical or financial advice
Trends are noisy. The playbook pages stay. These articles are a snapshot of the conversation plus a default, not a prescription.
Health — Bloodwork before the story¶
Sleep is the testosterone factory and men keep cutting it. Posts hammer the same loop: deep sleep and morning labs beat folklore about “just getting older.” Tired, thin week, gym that stopped answering — that’s a file, not fate. Iron, thyroid, B12, D, and a morning total/free T panel show up more than any powder. The fight is clinics selling replacement versus “fix sleep and food first”; the playbook stays with sleep and bloodwork.

Wealth — The 401(k) gap is the contribution rate¶
Median balances by age keep circulating and they are ugly next to the millionaire cohort. The loud claim is that stock picking is not the edge — maxing (or at least hitting the match then 15%) in cheap index funds is. Target-date funds versus self-directed S&P 500 is the fight; we pick the cheap index and ignore the ticker lists. Time left after 40 still compounds if the savings rate actually moves.

Nutrition — Protein first, every meal¶
Anabolic resistance after 40 is the quiet complaint. The recurring default is 30–40 g protein at breakfast, lunch, and dinner — chicken, beef, eggs, cottage cheese — before the rest of the plate. Alcohol as empty calories that stall fat loss shows up in the same threads. Carbs-versus-carnivore noise is loud; we keep protein as the anchor and leave the rest to how you eat.

Training — Three lifts, ten thousand steps¶
Muscle after 40 is the non-negotiable. Recurring posts: squat, hinge, push, pull, carry three times a week, add weight when the last reps get easy, and walk 8–10k most days because it costs almost nothing in recovery. Joints and unilateral work get mentioned as the thing that keeps you in the gym. High-volume calisthenics and “never skip a day” hype exist; the playbook stays 2–3 hard sessions plus walking.

Ignore today¶
- Peptide stacks and “natural T boosters” sold as protocols.
- GLP-1 as a lifestyle default.
- Ticker lists and “I’m 44 and retired on $80k/month” posts.
- Bitcoin-in-the-401(k) as the new baseline.
- Carnivore-versus-everyone diet wars.
