Updated September 18, 2026. What men over 40 are actually talking about — each topic is a full article, not a blurb.
Not medical or financial advice
Trends are noisy. The playbook pages stay. These articles are a snapshot of the conversation plus a default, not a prescription.
Health — Full labs, not just T¶
Men posting their own numbers are running 90-day panels that cover androgens, thyroid conversion, ApoB, insulin, and PSA — not the 10-marker GP draw. Afternoon crashes with “good” total T keep showing up as thyroid or metabolic slip. Sleep apnea screening is the other recurring ask for the same fatigue. This matches bloodwork; no fight.[1]
Read the article — how to order a real panel and read it without chasing one headline number.

Wealth — 401(k) first¶
A 42-year-old with 12 years at the firm has never put in a dollar, even for the match, because the parents’ house is the plan. Income accounts are selling covered-call ETFs at 10–14% distributions versus cash at 4%. Crash posts tell anyone over 40 their 401k is already dead. The fight is yield products versus cheap indexes; we stay with the match and the indexes.[2]

Nutrition — 40 g protein per meal¶
Anabolic resistance is the phrase of the week: the dose that built muscle at 25 barely registers at 50, and most men over 40 are still under-eating protein. Breakfast is where it fails — coffee and toast, then the cupboard at 9pm. 40–50 g protein plus fiber in the first meal, then again at lunch and dinner, is the default being repeated. Matches protein.[3]

Training — Keep the load¶
The bar getting 15% lighter while mobility work doubles is the complaint. Compounds still win: squat, hinge, push, pull, carry. Walk the other days. One high-engagement post said drop bulk for mobility and stay lean; we keep lifting and walking.[4]
