Updated August 31, 2026. What men over 40 are actually talking about — each topic is a full article, not a blurb.
Not medical or financial advice
Trends are noisy. The playbook pages stay. These articles are a snapshot of the conversation plus a default, not a prescription.
Health — Sleep is the work¶
Sleep is louder than the gym. Men keep repeating that most daily testosterone is made in deep sleep, a week of short nights drops T about 10–15%, and a “normal” total-T number can still be wrong if recovery, mood, and sleep are trash.[1] The fight is sleep plus a full panel first versus jumping to TRT, peptides, or a nine-supplement stack.[2]
Read the article — sleep as the T and recovery lever, what to test besides total T, and the default order.

Wealth — Max the boring 401k¶
Forty-year-olds are posting maxed 401(k)/Roth/HSA contributions and simple S&P-style index allocations — still in the aggressive-saving years, not waiting on a pension that keeps getting renegotiated.[3] The fight is cheap indexes versus stuffing retirement plans with private equity, crypto, or meme-coin “retirement.” Duration risk in long bonds showed up for anyone close to drawing income.[4]

Nutrition — Protein went up¶
Anabolic resistance is the phrase: the protein dose that built muscle at 25 under-delivers after 40, so every meal needs a real protein source and totals closer to 0.7–1 g per lb.[5] Creatine 3–5 g is the only supplement that keeps showing up as worth it. Alcohol is framed as a 24–48 hour tax on sleep, T, and fat loss — not a weekend reward. The stack comes last.[6]

Training — Lift three, walk daily¶
Strength after 40 is sold as independence, not aesthetics: 3–4 sessions, compounds, progressive overload via reps then load. Walking 8k+ steps is the underrated daily lever; joints get loaded, not wrapped in bubble wrap.[7] The fight is this versus HIIT chaos, “stop walking 10k,” or rushing surgery for a labral finding.[8]

- Peptides, TRT, and GLP-1 as the opening move instead of sleep, protein, and lifting.
